Ant Nest Raid

Today I used Raid.

I know I shouldn't but we had an ant nest next to the house on the south-east side.

It gets so hot there and it's been hardly any precipitation for the last two years winter, and apparently this is awesome as far as ants are concerned.  In fact Edmonton has been over run!

I wouldn't have minded too much but it was next to the house and I've been having nightmares of them getting in the house! I had to get rid of the nest.

So I used Raid Outdoor Ant Nest Destroyer and I'm happy to report that it seems to have worked.

I will say, I read of many natural solutions: beer, boiling water, used coffee grounds, cinnamon. And a friend of mine suggested mixing sugar and baking soda together.

I didn't try any of those, even though I asked another friend to collect her used coffee grounds for me for the week. (I'll just put them in the compost.). The reason I didn't, simply because the nest was right next to the house. Nightmares!

Not that I mind ants. I don't. I find them fascinating. Just not in my house. If the nest had been in another garden away from the house I would have tried the natural remedies first.
